This class is for the more experienced rug repair technician looking to take their skills to the next level. The techniques taught are the foundation skills needed to go beyond repair and become an oriental rug restorer.
- Review structural analysis to identify parts/materials of rugs
- Re-knotting; symmetrical and asymmetrical knots, low pile and ‘Kashmir’ techniques
- Warp and weft insertion; cotton and wool warp preparation and spinning
- Basic re-weaving techniques: kelim and pile weaves
- Selvage re-weaving: single and multi-cord overcast
- Repair and replacement of fringes and end finishes
